Triclosan
This ingredient is a pesticide. It’s antibacterial and antifungal properties make it an attractive option for soap companies, but not for your health. Triclosan can irritate the skin, eyes and lungs.
Parabens
Parabens can mimic hormones in the human body, which can disrupt normal functioning. It has also been linked with breast cancer in women.
Sodium Laurel Sulfate
This chemical also goes by the name of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or SLS. This is a compound of nitrosamines, which can affect the respiratory system and kidneys. It is also known to irritate the eyes, skin and lungs.
PEG-6
This is a possibly carcinogenic compound, found in several personal care products. There have also been reports linking it to breast cancer in women.
Phthalates
Phthalates have been known to cause reproductive and developmental toxicity.
